Escaping water needs a safe first response and a repair plan based on the actual affected piping.
Put safety before investigation
If safe and you know the correct valve, isolate the affected supply. Stay away from water near electrical equipment, unstable ceilings or contaminated areas. Do not enter unsafe spaces to locate a valve. Use the appropriate emergency service for immediate danger; this phone line is not a public emergency hotline.
Distinguish one failed section from a wider proposal
Tell the business which areas are affected, any safe isolation performed and previous pipe problems. Ask what supports a localized repair or a broader repiping recommendation. Age alone does not identify the condition of every accessible or concealed pipe.
Plan access, disruption and verification
For larger work, ask which rooms and lines are included, how water interruptions will be handled and who restores opened finishes. Clarify permits, testing, excluded fixtures and disposal. Keep the plumbing scope separate from drying or damage restoration unless those services are expressly included.
Questions before authorizing work
- What does the assessment include and cost?
- Which findings support the proposed work?
- What is excluded, and how will changes be approved?
- How will the completed work be checked?
